The driver who died when a van crossed into the wrong lane of a Carver County road was identified Friday as a 29-year-old man from Dassel, Minn.
Eli W. Russell was killed in Chanhassen shortly after 3 p.m. Thursday in the collision on Flying Cloud Drive near Stoughton Avenue, according to the Sheriff's Office.
The van's driver, James O'Brien, 53, of Chaska, was hospitalized with serious injuries, the Sheriff's Office added.
Witnesses told the Sheriff's Office that the eastbound van veered to the right and struck a guardrail before it crossed into the westbound lane and hit Russell's vehicle.
Authorities have yet to disclose why O'Brien lost control of the van.
