It was a frightening moment for commuters on Hwy. 169 in Edina Thursday morning when a vehicle jumped a concrete median and struck an oncoming vehicle near Bren Road.

The two southbound lanes of Hwy. 169 were blocked for more than 30 minutes and traffic was allowed only to pass only on the right shoulder. The ramp from Bren Road to southbound 169 was closed, the Minnesota Department of Transportation said.

At least two ambulances were dispatched to the scene, but it was not immediately clear how many people were injured.

Traffic in both directions was at a standstill immediately following the crash, which happened at 6:50 a.m. Northbound traffic was backed up to Valley View Road while southbound traffic came to a halt at Hwy. 7.

All southbound lanes on 169 were reopened around 7:30 a.m.
