Environmental quality fair at middle school

The city of Plymouth will hold an environmental quality fair from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Zachary Lane Elementary School.

Participants will learn about animal habitat, recycling, insects, trees, energy conservation, gardening and water.

The event will include the International Wolf Center, the University of Minnesota’s Bee Lab and the Minnesota Zoomobile. The zoo will bring Minnesota native animals, including the great horned owl, bull snake, Blanding’s turtle, western hognosed snake and opossum, as well as foreign species such as the African millipede.

Pizza will be available for a small donation. To help make this a zero-waste event, visitors should bring their own water bottles and bags to carry home materials they pick up at the fair.

Annual rummage sale is June 6-7

The annual rummage sale will be held at St. George Catholic Church, 133 N. Brown Road in Long Lake, on June 6-7.

The sale will run from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 6, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, June 7.

Friday is “Bag Day,” when all the items you can stuff in a shopping bag are sold at $4 per bag, and large items and “better goods” are half price.

The sale will feature five large rooms full of items, and snacks are available. For more information, call 952-473-1247.
