Logan D. Ahlers, 25, was identified on Monday as the shooting victim who died early Saturday in a Burnsville apartment building.

Meanwhile, prosecutors said they will file manslaughter charges Tuesday against a 25-year-old acquaintance of the dead man. That suspect has been held in the Dakota County jail since early Saturday and is expected to appear in court at noon today.

Dakota County Attorney Jim Backstrom said the shooting involved a handgun but declined to disclose further details until the charges are filed.

At 2:48 a.m. Saturday, police were called to 2700 Selkirk Drive, where they found Ahlers and performed emergency first aid.

Police interviewed the suspect, then booked him into the jail for probable cause second-degree manslaughter. Records say the suspect is accused of "culpable negligence creating unreasonable risk."

At the time he died, Ahlers had been staying in the Burnsville area, according to the county attorney's office.
