District discussion on race, culture and community

The school district is inviting residents to join Superintendent Joe Gothard to explore important community issues at the first of two “Community Conversations.” The upcoming session is on race, culture and community, and will feature speaker Janice Porter, principal of Burnsville Alternative High School, who will share her experience of being the first in her family to graduate from college and growing up in the South. Also discussed will be how race affects student learning in the district. Refreshments will be served.

The session will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Campus Cup on the upper level of the Diamondhead Education Center, 200 W. Burnsville Pkwy., Burnsville.
