A man riding a bicycle was struck and killed by a vehicle early Wednesday in Forest Lake.
The victim, a 26-year-old man from Forest Lake, was hit about 3:40 a.m. in the area of Hwy. 97 and N. Forest Road, which is just west of Hwy. 61. His name has not been released by authorities.
According to the State Patrol, the bicyclist was heading east on Hwy. 97 and then moved into the westbound lanes, where he was struck by a Jeep Cherokee driven by a 52-year-old man from Forest Lake. The driver of the Jeep was not injured.
The patrol had both directions of Hwy. 97 and access from Hwy. 61 closed while it investigates the accident, but the road reopened shortly before 7 a.m.
