An Apple Valley man on Friday was placed on five years' probation for posing as a woman on the Internet to communicate with an 18-year-old woman who had befriended his daughter.
Robert R. Russell, 44, had pleaded guilty in July to violating a harassment restraining order, which the young woman had filed against Russell after he professed his love for her.
Under a plea agreement reached earlier in Ramsey County District Court, Russell was sentenced to 45 days in jail, which was stayed, and will be on five years' probation, during which time he can have no contact with the woman.
