A Minneapolis man raced along the shoulder of a North Dakota interstate construction zone between Fargo and Grand Forks, lost control of his vehicle and was thrown to his death, authorities said.
Elyas A. Ali, 22, died Monday evening along Interstate 29, a few miles north of Hillsboro, the Highway Patrol said late Wednesday.
Ali was heading south on I-29 when he moved to the shoulder to pass a semitrailer truck in a construction zone, the patrol said. His car went into the ditch, rolled several times and came to rest on its wheels.
Ali, who was not wearing his seat belt, was found nearby outside his car, the patrol added.
