Some veteran big-name acts who may have lost a bit of drawing power at the gate will be served up for free at the State Fair's band shell starting in late August.
The Pointer Sisters of rhythm and blues fame are booked for Aug. 24 and 25. Then it's the longtime funk ensemble George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic on Aug. 26 and 27.
Other blasts from the past include country songbird Tanya Tucker (Aug. 30 and 31) and classic rockers Foghat (Sept. 1 and 2).
Also taking to the band shell will be country performer Chris Janson (Aug. 28 and 29) and St. Paul's indie rock group Hippo Campus (Sept. 3 and 4).
While entry to the band shell is free, admission to the fair itself is still required.
