Two men were shot and wounded in separate incidents less than an hour apart Sunday afternoon in south Minneapolis.

One was shot twice in the leg just after 1 p.m. Sunday outside the Crosstown Gas and Convenience store at 34th Avenue S. and E. 58th Street.

The victim was treated by paramedics at the scene and taken to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis by ambulance.

The shooter and victim knew each other, said Sgt. Bill Palmer.

Both men walked into the store and were arguing, said store owner Cal Abdul. They went outside by a gas pump in the parking lot, where one of the men pulled out a gun and shot the other in the leg, Abdul said.

The shooter fled the scene on foot.

The incident was caught on surveillance tape, said Abdul, who has owned the store for 18 years. He said he knows both men and that they are nice and polite.

The injured man was standing with a group of people, including a 13-year-old boy, Abdul said. Abdul's young son was inside the store during the shooting.

Less than an hour earlier, another man was shot in the leg near Chicago Avenue S. and E. Franklin Avenue and driven, either by himself or companions, to Hennepin County Medical Center.

The man was outside when he was shot, Palmer said. He wasn't cooperating with police, so they don't know if he knew the shooter.

Both victims, who have not been identified, are expected to recover.
