A sure sign that rosé has hit the big time: It now has its own “cult wine.”
A new brand, Chateau Miraval, sold out its French allotment of 500 cases in five hours. It probably had something to do with another part of the label, the one that read “Bottled by Jolie-Pitt et Perrin.”
It turns out that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie lent more than their famous names and their grapes (from a 1,000-acre estate in the south of France) to this endeavor. They reportedly attended blending sessions with Marc Perrin, the owner of Château de Beaucastel, and helped develop the bottle’s label and shape.
And French folks didn’t get all the Miraval. Some of the wine, which will retail for about $27, is expected to show up on local shelves in late May. The wholesaler’s allotment sold out quickly, and those interested might want to see about reserving some in advance.
The following Twin Cities outlets gobbled up Minnesota’s allocation: Haskell’s (Minnetonka and Burnsville), Surdyk’s, France 44, Andy’s Crossroad, Tournament Liquor, WineStreet Spirits, Liquor Boy, Hennepin-Lake, Solo Vino, Stinson, South Lyndale, North Loop, France 44, Edina (York Av.), BrightWines and Toast Wine Bar.
