Jet Stream Key to Severe Weather

Strong, damaging thunderstorms will impact parts of the southern Plainsagain later Thursday. Usually, the risk of severe thunderstorms across thesouthern Plains begins to diminish in June, as hot, dry weather takes over.That is not the case so far this month, as the jet stream has been unusuallyfar to the south, providing extra energy to the thunderstorms.
