Tom Hanks movie looks for Twin Cities talent

It makes perfect sense that Tom Hanks’ new movie about Somali pirates would come to the Twin Cities looking for talent, since the area has one of the largest concentrations of Somalis outside their homeland.
“Capt. Phillips,” which tells the true story of an American skipper whose freighter was attacked by pirates in 2009, will hold auditions for actors and non-actors Nov. 5 at Brian Coyle Center, 420 15th Av. S., Minneapolis. You don’t need to make an appointment; just stop by from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a non-returnable current photo. There is no fee to audition.
Casting agents are most interested in black applicants who were born in Africa; men between the ages of 15-45, women between the ages of 20-30 and boys 7-10. No experience is necessary. The film is produced by the team behind last year’s hit “The Social Network."
No, Mr. Hanks won't be at auditions, so leave your Wilson volleyballs at home.
