Yeah, this is McDonald's.

A Burnsville branch of the Golden Arches -- located at 14200 Grand Av. S., just off the Nicollet Avenue/County Rd. 42 interchange -- recently debuted with a contemporary new look. Pretty swell, wouldn't you say?

Naturally, the behemoth that is McDonald's isn't talking -- the Burnsville store referred my questions to corporate headquarters, and HQ didn't bother to return my calls -- so I can't share any behind-the-scenes details. But the sparkling and comfortable new building (if memory serves, it replaced an older mansard-roof model McD's from the 1980s) has all kinds of yup-to-the-minute restaurant details not normally associated with the home of the Hamburglar and Mayor McCheese. I mean, there's a communal dining table!

Along with sleek furnishings (if I didn't know better, I'd say they were sourced from Minneapolis-based Blu Dot), clean lines and swiped-from-HGTV finishes, another sharp detail is the poster-sized graphics that give the House of Billions and Billions Served a much-needed local context, including images of Burnsville High School and the new town square in Heart of the City, the made-from-scratch downtown that's just up Nicollet Avenue from the restaurant.

Sitting in that slick new space, my Quarter Pounder With Cheese tasted better than ever. Have you visited the restaurant? What's your take?
