Ashley Schatzle had 18 kills and Katie Johnson had 15 kills to lead Michigan State to a sweep of the Gophers volleyball team in East Lansing, Mich., on Saturday.
Vanessa King added 14 kills for the Spartans (13-9, 4-6), who won 30-28, 35-33, 30-22.
The loss was the fifth consecutive for the No. 11 Gophers (12-8, 5-5 Big Ten), who lost Friday at Northwestern in five games.
Lauren Gibbemeyer had 15 kills and Jessy Jones had 10 kills to lead the Gophers.
The Gophers women's golf team is in 13th place after two rounds of the 18-team Lady Paladin Invitational in Greenville, S.C.
The Gophers have a 36-hole total of 629 -- 32 strokes behind first-place TCU.
Mary Narzisi leads the Gophers with a 155, tied for 29th place.
The Gophers' Raoul Schwark, playing singles for the first time in two weeks Saturday, won twice and reached the quarterfinals of the ITA Midwest Regional Championships at the Baseline Tennis Center. Schwark, the tournament's No. 6 seed, beat Louisville's Robert Rotaru 6-2, 6-1 and beat Ohio State's Matt Allare 5-7, 6-2, 6-3.
All three Gophers women's tennis players who had advanced -- freshman Alessandra Ferrazzi, junior Karina Chiarelli and sophomore Tijana Koprivica -- lost in the second round of the ITA Midwest Regional Championship at Michigan's Varsity Tennis Center.
