Ponga Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2017

New Zealand whites that offer something beyond grapefruit aromas and flavors are always worth seeking out. The Ponga Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2017 ($14) boasts clarity both in its appearance and flavor, with as much tropical and stone fruit as citrus. But that Kiwi "crisp and clean" deal is ever present, augmented by bold mineral notes on the midpalate and ample finish. The winery, appropriately enough, is named for a fern that indigenous people used to guide them through the wilderness. This refreshing white is perfect for parties in any season (providing lift and energy in chillier climes), a splendid aperitif but also paired with appetizers and almost anything from the seven seas.

Available at Glen Lake, Village, G-Will (Andover), Dolce Vita, Cub (St. Louis Park, Bloomington, Stillwater), Short Stop and others.
