Who Will Get Meanest Storms Thursday?

July 21, 2010 at 7:25PM

The atmosphere will be loaded for bear across the Central states Thursday. Thezone of low pressure that will be moving through will have plenty of heat andhumidity coming in from the south. This will cause thunderstorms to fire up,and strong jet stream winds assure that some of the storms will become quitedestructive.Bear in mind that even though most locations from the Plains into the MidwestThursday will get at least one thunderstorm tomorrow, only a small fraction ofthe area (typically less than 5%) will get hammered by any severe storms.

Another batch of nasty thunderstorms is likely to get going in just about thesame part of the country on Friday while the ones shown here hit places farthereast.
