We are talking about way below-normal temperatures here, folks. The pattern
that is evolving along the West Coast is more appropriate for April. In Fresno
for instance, the forecast high for Wednesday is 73, and for Thursday, it's 71.
Compare those numbers to the normal high of 87, and you can see what I mean about it being quite cool for late May.
Only the desert Southwest will remain hot Wednesday with afternoon temperatures in the upper 90s and lower 100s, but even that is a far cry from how hot it can be this time of year. The record high in Phoenix, Ariz., for May 26 is 112 degrees.
