Photo originally published March 27, 1981: At the time, one of the rites of spring was transferring the swans from St. Paul's Como Park Zoo to nearby Lake Como. Clearly one swan was having second thoughts and took off toward the golf course instead — his swan song, so to speak. Not so fast, said zookeeper Thomas Hedlund, who chased after the bird and took him back to his summer home at the lake. Although Como Park Zoo no longer has swans, you can find flamingoes among many other species at the bird exhibit near the visitor center, but not walking down the road.
