MAD MINUTE FILMS

Wednesday: Dancer and photographer Blake Nellis challenges the tendency in our culture to have short attention spans with a series of 60-second films that he'll debut at Homewood Studios. The films, which feature improvised movements that highlight raw emotion, cover topics such as body image, human contact and watching dance in the Internet age. Nellis received a Minnesota State Arts Board grant to create the films, as well as a series of photographs that display a connection between the human body and the Earth. The event will include two showings, and accompanying photographs will be on view Jan. 5-13. (8 & 9 p.m. Wed., Homewood Studios, 2400 Plymouth Av. N., Mpls. Free. homewoodstudios.com.
