TV picks for May 20-21: 'Wizard of Lies,' Dwayne Johnson on 'SNL,' 'Dark Angel'

You talkin' to me?

Financial con games have ruined many lives, but they've also inspired some terrific films, including "The Big Short" and "Margin Call." "The Wizard of Lies" isn't in that category, despite the presence of Robert De Niro as Bernie Madoff, although it's always a pleasure to see the Oscar winner recommit himself to a strong-and-silent role rather than trying to be the king of comedy.

Like a rock

Season finales of "Saturday Night Live" are usually peppered with guest appearances and surprises, so don't be shocked if Steve Martin and Martin Short follow their Friday night performance in Minneapolis with a red eye to New York City. Dwayne Johnson hosts.

The maid did it

There may have been some question about the innocence of Joanne Froggatt's Anna Bates in "Downton Abbey," but the actress' latest character, Mary Ann Cotton, is guilty as sin in "Dark Angel," a "Masterpiece" movie about Britain's first female serial killer.
