Missing ingredients

Yes, tears flow from the losers on a new season of "MasterChef Junior," but that has more to do with leaving behind an endless line of hot-fudge sundaes than being berated by Gordon Ramsay. If only the TV cook and his fellow judges were showing off their gentler sides to kids from flyover land. Of the two dozen contestants, seven hail from Georgia; none come from the Midwest.

Star pupils

"Henry Louis Gates Jr. — Uncovering America" pays tribute to the unlikely PBS star. Jodie Foster, Ken Burns and LL Cool J are among those brown-nosing the Harvard professor with plenty of highlights from his 18 documentary films and the series "Finding Your Roots."

Bad to the bone

Those who find "America's Funniest Home Videos" to be too family-friendly may find "Videos After Dark" to be more to their devilish delights. Original "AFHV" host Bob Saget returns for this spinoff featuring clips that were too naughty for the original series. In other words, expect even more painful shots to the groin.
