TV picks for June 29: 'Blazing Saddles,' 'Cat From Hell,' 'Redneck Videos'
Start your Independence Day celebration early with "Banner 4th of July" (8 p.m., Hallmark), about a family that must find harmony offstage in order to reunite its band. It stars Oscar winner Mercedes Ruehl and Brooke White, who sort of came across as a hippie-ish Taylor Swift on "American Idol" in 2008. Like Taylor, Brooke has penned some original songs, two of which will be featured in the movie and available on iTunes.
Cat scratch fever
Two issues must be resolved on "My Cat From Hell: Scratch Tracks" (8 p.m., Animal) : a cat that isn't housebroken and a cat that interrupts a couple's romantic moments. My hairstylist always knows how to solve my cat problems. Maybe she should be on this show.
You're a redneck if ...
CMT's "The Greatest" (9 p.m., CMT) series examines that most essential component of country music: "The 20 Greatest Redneck Videos." Jeff Foxworthy apparently wasn't available to host, but commentary will be provided by singing rednecks Gretchen Wilson, Brantley Gilbert and Trace Adkins as well as Stone Cold Steve Austin, the beer-guzzling, four-times married, 25-time champion wrestler. Belch!
