Local start-up TGS Knee Innovations said it secured about $1.5 million in angel investment.

The Plymouth-based company manufactures an FDA-approved medical device for tissue-guided knee surgery.

The company said the money will go toward increasing distribution and hiring more employees.

"The system is ready to go," said Wesley Johnson, the company's CEO and president. "What we needed was the capital to step on the gas … to reach more surgeons and verify the technology can do what we feel it would do in the hands of surgeons."
