Weather will play a large role at the Talladega Superspeedway this weekend. Acold front approaching from the west and moisture streaming up from the Gulf ofMexico will cause showers and thunderstorms across the South. In Talladega, Alabama the threat of showers and thunderstorms is greatestSaturday through the first half of Saturday night. During the afternoon andevening, thunderstorms could become severe with damaging winds and largehail.
A word of caution: Campers and trailers are not the best places in the world tobe when severe weather threatens.
Sunday will be a much drier day overall with the only chance of a shower beingfirst thing in the morning. The race doesn't start until the afternoon, though, and by then the sun should be out. The wind could be a bit of a factor duringthe race, gusting out of the west at up to 20 miles per hour.
