April 25, 2009 at 12:30PM

A common occurrence this year has been the strong winds across western Texasand other parts of the Southwest. This trend will continue this weekend, aswinds in excess of 20 mph will be common throughout this region. In conjunction with the high winds, not much if any rain will fall. Thesetwo factors will cause copious amounts of blowing dust and will heighten therisk for wildfires. Please keep both of these dangerous phenomena in mind ifyou plan to be in this area of the country this weekend, as both wildfires andblowing dust can be a threat to lives and property.
