Delfun, Marie Perry Age 86, of Robbinsdale, died Saturday, February 7, 2015. Marie was a woman who lived her strong Christian Faith. Her integrity, kindness and generosity were admired but people loved her for her witty sense of humor. Even as a child during the Depression she often shared her lunch with classmates who had little to eat. She supported many environmental causes and those which fought hunger and homelessness with her money, time and vote. Marie's family was the center of her life and she was the heart of her family. She was a wonderful Mama to her four daughters and adored her two granddaughters. She was a second mother to many of her daughters' friends. Marie was born May 11, 1928 in Nelma, Wisconsin to former Kentuckians Eva Ellen Boggs Perry and Emery Estil Perry. She graduated from Iron River H.S. (Michigan) in 1946. After living in Washington for a few years she returned to Wisconsin and married Urbano P. Delfun, (Benny) in 1951. She moved to Minnesota in 1972 where she worked North Memorial Medical Center for twenty-two years in the linen room. Though Marie was proud of her Scots-Irish Hillbilly heritage she dreamed of being Hawaiian. She was delighted to have visited Hawaii over 20 times. New Orleans, WDW and Vanderbilt Beach, FL were other favored destinations. She was a life-long baseball fan cheering for the Twins and Cardinals. She loved to fish and read. She enjoyed trivia, Scrabble and Bingo. Her day was incomplete if she missed Jeopardy and despite years of Alzheimer's, had the uncanny ability to best everyone at Wheel of Fortune. Marie was preceded in death by her husband and parents; two sisters, Beulah Fern Harris Johnson and Phyllis Maxine Popadic. She is survived by daughters, Kristi Delfun-Peterson (Curt), Roberta Delfun, Shari Braten (Geir) and Tammy Delfun; two granddaughters, Hanne-Marie Braten and Kathleen Peterson; her beloved dog Pippin Delfun. She will be missed by her nieces and nephews; brother-in-law Mladen Popadic and many relatives and friends. Funeral service will be 11:00 am Saturday, Feb 14 at Cornerstone Church (formerly Olivet Baptist Church), 3420 Nevada Ave N., Crystal, with visitation after 10:00 am. Private interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Bright color attire and/or Hawaiian attire welcomed. Gearty Delmore 763-537-4511
