Griebenow, Elaine Josephine Petersen was born February 8, 1921 in Tyler, Minnesota and died January 22, 2015. She was pre-deceased by her parents, Andrew and Ellen Aagesen Petersen, husband, George, and two brothers, Harold and Marvin Petersen. Elaine is survived by daughters Mei Griebenow of Berkeley, California and Susan Griebenow of San Diego, California; three sisters, Irene Norgaard, Dorothy Ives, Gladys Utoft (Charles) of the Twin Cities area; thirteen nieces and nephews; and many friends. A longtime member of Colonial Church of Edina, Elaine was a hardworking farmer's daughter, pastor's wife, nurse, missionary/medical volunteer in Thailand, Costa Rica, Bulgaria, Kenya, Uganda, South Africa, Lesotho, China, Russia, Cambodia and Honduras, as well as many local charities and organizations. A remarkable woman who lived life full and large, Elaine can be remembered with memorials to N.C. Little Memorial Hospice in Edina, MN.
