Peters, Commander Deane G. (Greg) Born 4/21/1932 Glencoe, MN. Died 11/22/2014 Attended St. John's University and the U of M for 2 years. In 1952 Greg joined the U.S. Navy where he became a pilot and was stationed in many different places including Bermuda, Hawaii and other South Pacific Islands. He attained the rank of Lieutenant Commander before leaving active duty in 1964. He stayed in the Navy Reserves and was a Commander when he was discharged after 21 years of service. Later that year he joined Douglas Aircraft Co. where he was sent to Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands where he flew missions while working on the Nike X project. In 1967 Greg returned to Minnesota and settled in Apple Valley. He joined Northwestern National Life Insurance Co. from which he retired in 1994. Greg enjoyed belonging to the Fort Snelling Officers Club and the Apple Valley Legion. He loved music, art shows, ball games and flowers. His patio was a burst of colorful flowers. Greg had a series of health problems and after a stroke in 2007 he moved to Emerald Crest Memory Care in Burnsville. Preceded in death by parents Henry (Hap) and Agnes (Moravec) Peters. He is survived by many loving cousins and friends. Funeral will be at Church of the Risen Savior, 1501 E. Co. Rd. 42, Burnsville, MN at 11:00 on Tues. Dec. 2 with visitation one hour prior.
