Benson, Janet Marie (Berkland) age 77, of Bloomington, passed away Oct. 26, 2014. Survived by her husband of 53 years, Charles; daughters, Andrea Benson (Scott McLaughlin) and Kara Barrow (Justin); grandchildren, Sophia, Isabel, Brendan and Julian; sister, Muriel Cooper and many other family and friends. Preceded in death by her parents, Blanche and Samuel Berkland. Born in Inwood, Iowa, Janet moved to Minneapolis to attend the Fairview Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1959. She and Charles made their home in Edina for 45 years, and raised their daughters there. As a nurse, Jan worked most recently at Edina Care Center, retiring in 1999. She also worked at Fairview and Methodist Hospitals, as a school nurse in Germany and as a clinic nurse in Hawaii. Memorial service Thursday, (Oct. 30), at 11:00 AM at Woodlake Lutheran Church, 7525 Oliver Avenue S., Richfield. Interment at Lakewood Cemetery. Visitation Wednesday from 5:00-7:00 PM at Morris Nilsen Chapel, 6527 Portland Ave. S., and one hour prior to service at the church. Memorials preferred to Woodlake Heritage Endowment Fund.
