Archie Oliver, born 11/28/1918, died 4/5/02, of lung disease. Preceded in death by parents, Rangna & Joseph Gadbois, wife of 53 years, Jeanne; brother, Richard. Survived by sisters and brother, Edna Mahler, Marion Schuller, Lillian Miller (Edward), Phyllis Johnson (Harry) and Robert Gadbois (Maria); children, Penny Schroeder (John), Jeffrey Gadbois (Sally) and Joel Gadbois; grandchildren, Heidi Boortz (Daniel), James Schroeder (Mary Kay), Michael Schroeder, Jonathon Gadbois, Thomas Gadbois, Elizabeth Gadbois, Amber Gadbois and Adam Gadbois, as well as several lifelong friends. Archie was a self-educated and self-made man, working mostly in the restaurant industry. For many years he went to work at 11th and Marquette in Mpls., first the site of Nelson's Bar and Cafe. The location was later the home of the Black Angus Restaurant, which prospered under his skillful management. Archie served his country as a bombardier in WWII. His 40 year avocation was sports car racing, as a driver and later a spectator. He will be remembered for his love of Jeanne and his family, his intellect and his humor.
