Mithun Doris Berg Mithun was born November 21, 1908 and went to Heaven, June 7, 2004 at the age of 95. Doris now happily joins her husband, Ray Mithun, as well as her parents, John and Helen Berg; two brothers, Carl and Mervin; her sister, Lillian; her brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Jackie Mithun, and granddaughter, Maggie. Doris leaves behind her sisters-in-law, Helen Berg and Mary Abbie Berg; her sons, Lewis (Jill), Jack (Lonnie), and Ray, Jr. (Mary); nine grandchildren, 15 great- grandchildren, including five month old Doris Margaret; many nieces and nephews, and hundreds of friends. The family extends their deepest gratitude and appreciation to Doris' caregivers: Nancy, Jan, Kerry, Bev, Glady, Irene, Ase, Evelyn, Kurt, Margaret, Theresa and Teri. She loved you all so much. Thank you for being such angels. Born and raised in Buffalo, Minnesota, Doris met the love of her life, Ray Mithun, at the age of 5, when he moved in next door. They both graduated from the University of Minnesota, with Doris' degree being in dietetics. They married in 1932, and together they built a life filled with industry, faith, civic responsibility, and a whole lot of fun. While her greatest accomplishment was as the quiet backbone of her husband's noteworthy career, and as the loving mother of three fine sons, Doris was also one of the founding members of the Gold Mine in Wayzata. Doris loved antiques and became extremely well educated in nearly every area of fine antiques, especially pieces from the Orient. Doris also loved entertaining. She was a gracious hostess, and loved going to parties almost as much as she loved giving them. She loved golf, gardening (especially roses), Bible study, sitting in the front row at church, watching the Twins, reading the paper every day, convertible sports cars, being in charge of the remote control, and going to Palm Springs and Eldorado a little bit longer every winter. She was devoted to the Minnetonka Center for the Arts, Wayzata Community Church, and The Minnesota Orchestra. She enjoyed volunteering for the Dieticians Aid Core during the war, the Abbott Hospital Auxiliary, and the Community Chest (now known as the United Way). Doris was described by her husband, Ray, as "an angel," by those close to her as "the sweetest lady they ever met," and she was loved by most everyone with whom she came in contact. Even in the later years, when most anyone would have shown great frustration with failing health and physical limitations, Doris seemed only to shine more brightly. She will be greatly missed. Memorial Service to be held on Saturday, June 26 at 11 AM at Wayzata Community Church, 125 East Wayzata Blvd., Wayzata, MN 55391. In lieu of flowers, memorials are encouraged to the Minnesota Orchestra, 1111 Nicollet Mall, Mpls 55403, and to Wayzata Community Church. David Lee Funeral Home Wayzata 952-473-5577
