Mendenhall, Jewell Anderson Age 93, of Walker, MN passed away on Nov. 2, in Bemidji, MN. Jewell was cherished and adored by all who knew her as beloved wife, mother, teacher, grandmother, great-grandmother, colleague, and friend. She was an extraordinary woman, a force of nature, exuding a passion for living and loving, and an exceptionally talented and creative woman: musician, choral director, teacher, author, illustrator, painter, poet, seamstress, and baker. She had sparkle, a quick wit, and boundless energy for nourishing her village of family and friends. Jewell was born in Becker, MN on Nov 16,1923 and was a graduate of Bemidji State Univ. and the Univ of MN, where she met her husband, Ralph. Jewell was both a vocal music and English teacher at Portland Jr. HS in Bloomington, MN from 1965 to 1980. A passionate teacher, Jewell was a fifty-year member and MN state music director of the Delta Kappa Gamma International Society. Jewell was preceded in death by her parents, brother, and husband Ralph. She is survived by her daughters Judy and Jill (Bernie) Anderson; sons Jeff (Ghazala) and Jack (Rita) and many grandchildren, great- grandchildren. The memorial service will be held on Sat. Dec 2 2017 at 5pm at Hope Lutheran Church in Walker, MN., with visitation at 4pm. Jewell's care has been entrusted to Northern Peace Funeral Home of Walker, MN. Condolences: northernpeace.com
