Douglas, Mary Renee age 70, longtime resident of Waverly, MN, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 3, 2017. She was born November 4, 1946 in Minneapolis, MN, the daughter of Lloyd "Doc" and Bernice (Larson) Zander. Mary was a 1964 graduate from Howard Lake High School. She worked for 27 years with the Soo Line Railroad. On July 3, 1987, Mary and Ralph Douglas were united in marriage in Buffalo, MN. Mary held a position on the Howard Lake School Board. She enjoyed reading, quilting, cross-stitching, coffee and visiting, spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren, and she loved her pets. Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd "Doc" and Bernice Zander. She is survived by her husband, Ralph Douglas; children, Amy O'Connell (Patrick Wheeler), Kelly Taverna (Jason), Matthew O'Connell (Kate), Christy Biss (Paul), Jeff Douglas (Teresa), Michelle Dahl (Spencer), Chris O'Connell (Lisa); grandchildren, Joseph, Anne and Lucia Wheeler, Jack and Cece Taverna, Will, Dan and Norah O'Connell, Lauren and Makenna O'Connell, Jack and Kyle Douglas, Logan and Lacey Dahl; and many other loving family and friends. Memorial service will be held Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 1:00 PM, with visitation beginning at 11:00 AM, at First Presbyterian Church, 721 9 St, Howard Lake with the Rev. Jacob Van Pernis officiating. Burial will follow at Howard Lake Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mary's name are preferred to the Animal Human Society or Alzheimer's Association.
