Martin, Marvin Fredrick Born February 23, 1938. Peacefully met the Lord the morning of Saturday, August 26, 2017. Baptized in Christ May 22, 1938 (decision of parents). Baptized in Christ July 31, 2005 at Crossroads Church (Marv's decision). Graduated from South St. Paul High School June 8, 1956. Enrolled in the University of MN in 1956 where he earned an Engineering Degree. Employed by Minnesota Department of Transportation July 2, 1956. Enlisted in the United States Army Reserve August 21, 1956.Retired from Military Service as Command Sargent Major November 5, 1991. Retired from MN DOT as Senior Engineering Specialist, in Technical Support in Pre-letting, & Plan Review Department March 1, 2000. Marv was a resident of Cottage Grove for 40 years. He was a member of All Saints Church in Cottage Grove from 1977 to 1999. He began attending Crossroads Church where he became a member in 2002. Marv was diagnosed with moderate Alzheimer's disease in 2010 then in 2013 Marv and Harriet sold their dream home and moved into Norris Square Presbyterian Homes where Marv peacefully passed away. Preceded in death by His father Roland, and mother Rose. Survived by loving wife Harriet of 40 years (September 10, 1977); children Theresa (Kevin Whitaker), Mitchell R. (Kristy), John, Jason (Mickie); grandchildren: Mitchell L. (23), Ellen (23), Elizabeth (21), Lindsay (17), Brianna (17), Lucas (13); sisters Sharon Kimmel, Sandra Fish (Bill); brothers Melvin (Nancy), Jimmy (Verna Clark); Uncle Vincent Meyer; many nieces and nephews; and loving friends. Many thanks to staff and volunteers from Heartland Hospice; friends, volunteers and staff with Crossroads Church; residents, staff, and volunteers at Norris Square and all who supported us during these difficult times. Visitation will be Thursday, August 31, at Crossroads Church, 5900 Woodbury Drive, Woodbury, MN at 9:00 a.m. Celebration of life at 11:00 a.m., lunch provided at 11:45 a.m. Burial will follow at Fort Snelling Cemetery at a later date.
