Gareri, Helen B. of Plymouth. Helen's five- year struggle with ALS ended peacefully in hospice care on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at age 73. She was born May 24, 1943 in Marshall, MN. While attending St. Ben's University, she met her future husband Peter Gareri who was attending St. John's University. They were married on Oct. 1, 1966. Helen began her career as an elementary school teacher. After raising her three children, she returned to teaching and spent over 20 years at Peppermint Fence Preschool. As a Benedictine Oblate, she was a woman of strong faith. Her kind, gentle character was felt by all who knew her. Helen found immense joy in the simple things in life: sunsets at the lake, a garden in bloom, a beautiful song, playing with her grandchildren, and time with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by husband, Peter D. Gareri; parents, Marcel and Bertha (Haneca) Blomme. Survived by children, Steve (Despina Lazarides) Gareri, Lisa (Paul) Hess, Peter (Koryeah) Gareri; grandchildren, Mike and Nick Davis, Ben and Claire Hess, Naomi, Dominic and Xavier Gareri; siblings, Fran (Alice) Blomme, Irma (Tom) Cattoor, Nancy (Jim) Brandt, Rich (Jean) Blomme; many nieces, nephews & other loving relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Monday, February 27 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 155 County Rd. 24 in Medina. Visitation 3-5 PM Sunday, February 26 with 4:30 PM prayers and memory sharing at Gearty-Delmore Plymouth Chapel, 15800 37th Ave. N. at Vicksburg Lane and 1 hour prior to Mass at church.
