Johnson, Richard Sievers Age 93, died on 2/8/2017 surrounded by loving family members. Born 12/29/1923. Preceded in death by Ruth (Jensen) his wife of 62 years, his parents Dr. Reuben & Gladys Johnson, and sister Mary Louise Quest. Survived by son, Richard (Ginnie), daughters Susan Christie (Jerry), Karen Wiersum (Brad), Barb Johnson (Dennis Rust), grandchildren Sarah Pinkham, Valerie & Brett Johnson, Jennifer, Amy, Matt & Andy Wiersum; sister Sally Hurd. Richard was a graduate of Washburn High School, the University of Minnesota and the U of MN Medical School. He remained a lifelong fan of the Minnesota Gophers. Richard served in the US Navy Medical Corps. Richard was a founding partner of Consulting Radiologists Ltd. and was Radiology Department Head at Methodist Hospital. He was a rare individual whose passions were many and varied, ranging from paper-making to mycology to downhill skiing. His life was earmarked by a never-ending quest for knowledge yet he remained a practical and humble person. Richard is loved and missed by family and friends. He is united with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and is reunited with his beloved Ruth. A celebration of Richard's life will be held at Christ Presbyterian Church, 6901 Normandale Rd, Edina, at 4 PM on 2/24/2017, preceded by a visitation at 3 PM. Private interment at Fort Snelling. Memorials to U of MN Foundation.
