Maurer, Joseph John age 90, of Bloomington, passed away Sept. 22, 2016. Preceded in death by parents, Catherine & John; wife, Mary; infant son, Joseph; brothers, George, John and nephew, Tom. Survived by loving children, Judy (Denny) Scanlon, Jan (Monte) Eastvold, Therese (Greg) Feldmeier, Steve and Greg Maurer; 8 grandchildren, Denny, Erin (John), Mike, Andy (Lauren), Adam, Joseph (Liz), Natalie, Sarah; 2 great-grandchildren, Maggie, Colin; sister, Dolly; sister-in-law, Blanche; nieces, nephews & friends. Joe served with the US Navy during WWII and received the Purple Heart. After his discharge from the service, he started his own construction company, JJ Maurer Homes, which he operated until retiring. Joe will be remembered for his integrity, sense of humor, generosity and kindness. The family celebrates his life with gratitude for the immense blessing Joe was in our lives.
