Higgins, Cathryn "Kay" McConnell of Edina, MN and Rio Verde AZ, died January 10, 2014 four days before her 94th birthday. She was born in Rosebush, Michigan to Raymond and Mary McConnell. A graduate of Sacred Heart Academy and Central Michigan University, she taught Business until she moved to Detroit and worked as an executive assistant. There she met Charley Higgins (Charles W.) and they had 40 years of beautiful marriage until his death in 1988. She loved sports, both as a spectator and participant and was a terrific bridge player. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Margery Orr, Monica Kelly, Isobel Kerley, Frank McConnell, Paul McConnell, Virginia Cotter, Joanne Maxbauer and Florence Kraft; and an infant brother and sister. She is survived by her children, Ellen Sugg (Callen), Charles Higgins (Susan), Martin Higgins, Mary Higgins and Raymond Higgins (Stefanie); and grandchildren, Jacob Johnston, Margaret Johnston (Aaron), Thomas Higgins and Kathryn Higgins; and her beloved brother, Richard McConnell and brother-in-law, Robert Kraft and dozens of nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday 11 AM, Church of St. Patrick, 6820 Valley View Rd., Edina. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Visitation one hour prior to Mass at church.
