Johnson, David L. age 70, of Mpls, passed away January 6, 2014. Preceded in death by parents, five brothers, and two sisters. David will be remembered for his charm, sense of humor, the strong opinions he held - he was never easily swayed from his views - and most of all his kindheartedness (he would not hesitate to give you the shirt off his back, even if it meant he would be left cold). Survived by wife, Doreen; three sons, Michael Chu, David Mark (Rhonda) Johnson, and Wayne (Joanne) Johnson; daughter, Tricia (Markus) Silpala; seven grandchildren, Christine (Richard Vargas) Johnson, Ryan Johnson, Eric Johnson, Emma Johnson, Kate Johnson, Aurora Silpala, and Audrey Silpala; three great-grandchildren, Nicholas Johnson, Keyla Blake, and Hailey Vargas; four brothers, Maurice, Rowland, Hal, and Benjamin Virgil Johnson; three sisters, Cecily Small, Elinor Bishay, and Rosamond Carol Phillips; great-aunt, Eula; and many other relatives as well as friends. Memorial service Friday, January 17, 2014, 12:00 pm at Lakewood Cemetery Chapel, 3600 Hennepin Ave. S. Minneapolis, MN 55408. Interment after memorial at Lakewood Memorial Mausoleum.
