Anderson, Allen M. "Al" Age 79, of Minneapolis. Passed away peacefully on January 1, 2016, at Brookdale Senior Living, in Eagan. Preceded in death by parents, Milton and Hazel Anderson; brother-in-law George Longaker; sister and brother-in-law Sandra and Ralph Junker. Survived by wife, Sandra Isham; son, Jay; Jay's mother, Glenice Anderson; sisters, Sharol Longaker and Dawn (Arnie) Gruhn; sister-in-law Judy (Doug) Cooper; nephews Shaun (Theresa) Junker and Phil (Suzanne) Hagen; relatives and friends. Allen graduated from Edison High School, University of Minnesota and served in the Air National Guard. He was a social worker for the state of Minnesota and Hennepin County, from which he took early retirement. Upon retiring, he was able to pursue athletic interests in marathon running, cross-country skiing, golf, tennis and especially bicycling. He planned and biked several long-distance bike trips, about which he wrote in his whimsically personal style. Sadly, his life was adversely affected and shortened by Alzheimer's Disease. Thanks and appreciation to the caring staffs of Brookdale Senior Living, United Hospital Geriatrics and Health Partners Hospice.
