Loosen, James Arthur age 77, of Long Lake, after many months of declining health. A much loved only child, he was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Art; and then in 2004 by his adored wife of 53 years, Arlene, and also by his daughter, Joanne (Survived by son, Charles Loosen). Avid golfer, expert marksman and entrepreneur, Jim belonged to Olympic Hills and then the Minneapolis Golf Club for many years; he hunted duck and pheasant; and he owned several businesses including Loosen Mechanical Contractors/Loose Plumbing and Heating and Sheet Metal and the Uptown Bar. A graduate of St. Thomas Academy and the University of Minnesota, he entered the Air Force as a lieutenant and service on Fire Island during the Korean War. His avocation was a career writing letters to the editor. Intensely private and loyal, he was a true friend, patriot and family man. He will be deeply missed by his children and their families: Jim Loosen of Aberdeen, WA, Art Loosen of Plymouth, Laura Finazzo of Minnetonka, and Janet Loosen of Edina. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Patricia Sullwold at the VAMC, and to the staffs of Freedom Pointe of Minnetonka and Hospice of the Twin Cities. Memorials gratefully directed to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association and the Alzheimer's Association. Private family services. Rettinger Funeral Home Long Lake/Orono 952-473-6954
