Gruye, Dorothy Rose at age 92, died of natural causes on September 20, 2015 at Friendship Village Bloomington, MN. Dorothy Rose Dehn was born on November 5th, 1922 to Stella and Andrew Dehn. She was raised on a dairy farm by French Lake, Anoka, MN where she collected many stories of family life and rural existence. Dorothy was always extremely beautiful, and was voted home coming queen of Anoka High School. In 1943, Dorothy Rose married Glenn R. Gruye on the San Antonio Naval Base. Theirs was a marriage of love and many joys. Besides being the president of Resurrection Catholic Parish, Dorothy was a very devoted catholic that served on many church committees. Her quilting skills earned her much praise as a member of the Southwest Quilters Guild. Outside of creating beautiful quilting, knitting, and sewing, Dorothy created folk art and landscape portraits. Dorothy was the most gracious hostess, serving memorable meals and delicious baked goods at her large holiday gatherings. As elegant and fashionable as a movie star, Dorothy was filled with an infectious joy that bathed our lives in light. She is survived by her children Suzanne (Dale), Janet (Jim), and Keith, 15 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and her sister Ardell (Larry) and her brother Robert (Nancy). She is preceded in death by her husband Glenn R. Gruye, her son Deanne (Sherry), sister Donna, and her brother Arthur. Dorothy will be remembered as the most sweet, caring woman who shared her love with everyone. Mass of Christian Burial 11:00am Friday September 25th with visitation beginning at 10:30am at The Church of St. Richard, 7540 Penn Ave S., Richfield. Private Interment Sunset Memorial Park.
