Peterson, Naomi Lillian of Edina died naturally on May 8, 2024, at the age of 96. She was born to Otto and Lillian Kunkel in Oak Park, IL on April 28, 1928. Survived by her children Ross (Gail) Peterson of Prior Lake, Carol Peterson of Minneapolis, Mona (John) Volden of Annandale and Steve Peterson of Las Vegas; brother Edward Kunkel; sister-in-law Arlene Marshall; and brother-in-law Phil Klintworth. Loved deeply by her 6 grandchildren Brian Peterson, Sara May, Andrew Peterson, Naomi Volden, Christian Peterson, and Isabella Peterson; as well as 8 great-grandchildren and niece Pam Knutson, nephews Wade Marshall, Mark Klintworth and Paul Klintworth. Preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rod; sister Joyce Kunkel; sister Kathryn Klintworth; brother-in-law Bill Marshall and Goddaughter Diane Agnew. Her gentle and generous spirit encompassed many years of volunteering, including WISE, Meals on Wheels, Abbott-Northwestern Hospital, Art in Bloom, many activities at her beloved church, and baking cookies for the homeless. She was blessed with many creative talents and shared those gifts freely with many through her sewing and countless flower arrangements. She loved her garden and all things of beauty inspiring her children to encompass that in their lives. All those who touched her life were important to her and she became an angel to many through her quiet acts of kindness. She loved her home of 58 years in south Minneapolis, along with the countless neighbors who were so important to her. The family would like to thank The Waters of Edina and Abbott-Northwestern Hospice for their loving care in the recent past. Funeral service and interment to be held at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 3045 Chicago Ave S, Minneapolis on Saturday, June 8th at 11 am with a lunch to follow. Visitation at the church one hour prior to service.
