Ashner, Sonja V.E. age 97, of Mpls., passed away on April 28, 2024. Preceded in death by beloved husband Milton; parents, Erland and Elvira Erlander; brothers, Stig and Earl. Survived by children, Karen (Robert) Henderson; Kathleen (Jerry) Wellik, Paul (Mindy) Ashner, and Svea (David) Grosz; 6 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren. President of SVEA Interior Design Inc. for 28 years, Sonja earned her bachelor's degree in Interior Design from the U of M with extension classes in England, and was a member of International Furniture & Design Association (IFDA). Sonja was a skilled craftsperson, cook and educator, teaching cooking at Byerly's Gourmet Cooking School and design classes throughout the Twin Cities. A leader in her community, she started and led countless PTA, Scout, missionary, and church groups. Sonja loved to sing and was an accomplished artist and cook featured in the StarTribune. Loving wife, mother, mormor and friend, Sonja welcomed everyone into her heart and home. Her determined spirit, easy laughter, warm hugs and abiding faith will be greatly missed. Visitation 5-7pm Monday, May 6 with 6pm Prayer Service at Washburn McReavy Edina Chapel, 5000 West 50th St., Edina. Funeral Service 11am Tuesday, May 7 with visitation beginning at 10am at Mt.
