Meier, Al passed away on June 19th, 2023 just shy of his 87th birthday. Survived by his high school sweetheart and beloved wife Jeannette Meier for over 65 years, his adult children Christa (Chris) Getchell, Janice Grochal, John Meier, and grandchildren Peter (Camala) Grochal, Padraic (Amanda) Getchell, and Grace (Rodrigo) Getchell-Ochoa. Al served in the Army as a military guard escort for six years. Since 1957, Al worked in the sale of scales, scale automation, and equipment automation and moved to Minnesota in 1964 to establish the Midwest office of Fairbanks Morse. Al was dedicated to the grain industry and served in several leadership and volunteer capacities for the advancement of the Grain Elevator and Process Society (GEAPS). Al's business mantra was "You want it, I got it. You need it. I'll get it." Al loved the industry and adapted well through the technological advancements, because building and maintaining authentic relationships were at the heart of his business and life success. Al, also, was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinal baseball and a Minnesota Vikings football fan. Most importantly, he was a well-recognized GRAND-FAN in the stands/seats of his grandchildren. Al's greatest joys in life were sharing a good meal with his family, friends, and clients, locating the best small town diner for a donut/coffee or blue plate special, listening to and telling stories, and especially exchanging Ole and Leanna jokes. Smiling, laughing, being present, and gently jostling were a part of his DNA. The family is extremely grateful for the incredible care provided by the Archway staff at the Bloomington Presbyterian Homes. The staff are selfless and work tirelessly in providing critical care nursing. A private family inurnment will take place in late July at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, Mahtomedi, MN.
