Bowman, Robert J., Dr. Age 80 of Edina. Passed away April 26 after a brief battle with cancer. Preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister, and beloved wife Janice. Bob had an extensive career at the North Central Blood Services of the American Red Cross, as Medical Director and CEO. He also conducted research at the University of Minnesota, and worked in the pathology lab. He is survived by: children, Michelle (Lawrence), Renee (Shaun), Michael (Stacy); Grandchildren, Rachel, Christopher (Allison), Maya, Henry, Eleanor and Katherine; Great-Granddaughter, Lillian; Brother, Rick; Stacy's mother, Judy, and close family friend David Levitt; Numerous other relatives and friends. As a lifelong scholar, Bob always wanted to learn more, and discover new things. He was happiest in nature-whether it be in the swamps of Florida, birding in Alaska, or in the state parks of Minnesota. He loved birds, nature and developed one of the most varied Hosta gardens in Minnesota. Family and friends held a deep affection for him, and he did for them. Our lives are better because of him, and we are sad he has left us. Memorial gathering Sunday, May 7, 2023 from 3-6 PM at Historic Thomson-Dougherty Mansion 2535 Park Avenue, Minneapolis. Memorial service Monday. May 8, 2023 at 1PM Lakewood Cemetery Chapel, 3600 Hennepin Avenue South, Minneapolis.  In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to N C Little Memorial Hospice, Edina, or MN Landscape Arboretum (Grandpa's happy place).
