Dick and Helen married in 1953 and spent the majority of their married lives living in Edina, Minnesota raising their family. They built their home down the street from St Patrick's Church so there was never an excuse for not being able to get to mass! Dick and Helen were members of the St Pat's "Leprechauns" dinner club and Dick served as an extraordinary minister and head usher for St Pat's for many years. In addition to his passion for the law, Dick was a die-hard Minnesota Vikings fan and loved all things Irish. Many will fondly remember tailgating at the MDM office prior to home football games, St Patrick's Day celebrations, and festive gatherings in the Mahoney Edina home on Thanksgiving morning. Dick and Helen traveled extensively - internationally as well as many family road trips in a well-packed station wagon. Dick had a lifelong love of all things aviation. He was a legal officer in the USAF, serving during the Korean War and the 1961 Berlin Crisis, and rose to the rank of Captain.
