Barthel, Genevieve "Sweetie" (Tomczyk) Age 98, Beloved wife, mother and grandmother. Preceded in death by husband Herbert, daughters Jeaneen Barthel and Kathleen Bauer Neumann. Survived by son Steven (Bonnie) Barthel, granddaughters Nicole Whited, Heather Bauer Hammill, Lindsey Harfield, Jenna Haupt, Jessica Weinmeyer, Heather Laubach, 8 great grandchildren, son in law Tom Neumann and many nieces and nephews. Most knew her by Sweetie a nickname from early childhood. Her life revolved around family and food. She started catering with her mother Bernadette Tomczyk and eventually was co-owner of Catering Services for over 35 years with her sister Anne Potvin. She met and married Herbert June 3rd, 1943 and had to say goodbye shortly after getting married for his duty in the Philippines with the Army. Afterwards they eventually settled in Brooklyn Center, MN. She never made "just enough" food when hosting a family function, a tradition carried on by her children. We learned from the best.
