Douglas Lynn "Doug" Peterson

Brother, father, husband, grand-father and great-grandfather, career Realtor. Full of love and full of life, Doug will be greatly missed by us all.

Born in Kingsville, Texas as a twin to David Peterson as one of the biggest twins born on record at that time, almost 18 pounds. Mom, at 88 years old still complained about her stitches hurting, whenever she didn't want to do something. Doug and I, came into the world together and he left with us still together.

Doug graduated from Osseo High School in the late 60's, during the start of the Vietnam War and served in the United States Marines.

Married to Nancy Miller, a sweetheart, at a young age while in the Marines with a daughter Amber, later Doug and the first Nancy were divorced. Doug was a little hard to keep up with coming out of California after the Marines that's another story. Back in Minnesota he went into the construction business for a time and then into the real estate business. Doug became a Realtor and was one most of his career. Doing mostly home sales but later doing several developments in Maple Grove, Crystal, Champlin and Coon Rapids.

Later married Nancy Myran, a cheerleader at Robbinsdale High School another sweetheart, and having three wonderful, although willful, children, Heidi Stromme, (Fred), Aron and Lauri (Wiegand) and Mark.

And later still, married to Sherry Hope, who passed away in the late 90's, step-father to Ernie, Matt and Jason.

Along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved, and enjoyed spoiling all of them.

On Saturday as those of us who loved and cared about Doug will gather to do a ceremony and remember him.

I want to think Doug waited until I was there in his hospital room with him before he left. There's a song we sang in church many times, titled, "I was there to hear your Borning Cry," Check it out on Bing, "Borning Cry, hymn." It's wonderful. I was in my 60's the first time I heard the song at Coppertop Top in Duluth, I remember it struck me, that was a song I wanted sung at Doug or my funeral. As it turns out it is part of Doug's funeral plan this week. Because Doug and I were twins, I was in fact there to hear his first cry, and as it turned out, I was there as he took his last breath. Again, I choose to think he waited for me to get to the hospital before he felt okay to leave. He would have done the same for me.
